VEGDOG stands for a love of animals that thinks further – for 10 years now. We aren't just developing plant-based alternatives for dogs; we are changing an entire industry.
Together with dedicated partners in animal welfare, we are committed to sustainable canine nutrition, fair systems, and real change. A core part of this is our VEGDOG Rescues – rescued animals that, thanks to your support, have found a safe home at our animal sanctuary.
What began as a spontaneous rescue mission is now an integral part of our identity: not just preaching a love for animals – but living it.
The story begins with 5 sheep
VEGDOG founder Tessa was pregnant when she spotted a group of ewes on a walk that were on their way to the slaughterhouse.
And then came the thought that changed everything: "How unfair that I get to keep my baby – while these ewes have their babies taken away."
So she did what continues to define VEGDOG to this day: She took action.
The five sheep were the first VEGDOG Rescues – together with their lambs. The herd has been growing steadily ever since.

Meet the Crew – these are the VEGDOG Rescues
We are now home to 31 sheep, 4 ponies, two rabbits, three geese, and three cats. It is time to introduce you to a few of our furry and feathered team members.
Why are we sharing this?
Because each of these animals reminds us why we do what we do.
They give our work a face – or rather: many fluffy and feathered faces.
VEGDOG has grown over the last few years: as a team, in the number of rescues, and in our impact. But above all, thanks to a community that shows that change is possible – with the courage to change and, most importantly, plenty of heart.
