Alba came to Germany in 2018 at the age of 5. In fact, she was originally only intended to be in foster care, so we wanted to find a suitable and loving permanent home for her.

However, we unfortunately had to realize that Alba is a severely traumatized dog, and it took quite some time before she could build trust in me and my family. She must have experienced terrible things; her half-missing ear is proof of that. But unfortunately, no one knows exactly what happened to her. If we had known, it would have been easier for us to address her and her past.

But since she finally included us in her big heart and placed her trust in us, we decided to keep her. We simply could not and would not put her through the stress of moving her to another home and asking her to go through that same process all over again.

Admittedly, we have already had to go through quite a lot with our Alba. It is not just that she is still an anxious dog—mainly in the city—and is afraid of almost everything. She has already suffered several times from severe cases of IMHA and Mediterranean diseases. Twice we were told we should let her go. But I could not bring myself to send my fighter, my white lioness, over the rainbow bridge. So I looked for alternatives to conventional medicine and eventually treated her myself. Where there is a will, there is a way. And we both wanted it. Alba wanted to live. And I did not want to lose her.

Once you have gained Alba's trust, you are anchored deep in her heart forever. We notice that every day. She is such an integral part of our family, and I would stake my life on the fact that she would never do anything to harm the children. On the contrary: when we go for walks, she always keeps an eye on my older daughter. If she notices that she is lagging behind us, Alba goes to her and stays by her side. She holds our family together. Just as a mother should. She is the most loyal soul, and we are infinitely happy that we decided back then to keep her with us.

All her fear seems forgotten when we are out in the countryside or in nature with Alba. She blossoms, plays, and enjoys her life. A side that is only seen by people she trusts. It is incredibly fun to watch her throw sticks through the air and see her past not matter for a while.

By the way, one of Alba's clear passions is food! That is why she is in particularly good hands with VEGDOG. No one could do a better job as a taste tester. Her loud smacking is a clear indication of the taste of our products. She especially likes our JERKEYS. Her smacking is especially loud with those.

As much sorrow as we have already had with Alba, I would choose to welcome her into our family again at any time. She is a one-of-a-kind dog that I can rely on 1,000%.
